The mission of Coastal Cleanup Day is to engage people to remove debris from our beaches and inland waterways; to identify the sources of marine debris; and ultimately to change the behaviors that cause pollution. Coastal Cleanup Day is California’s largest annual volunteer event organized by the California Coastal Commission. This year, Coastal Cleanup Day is Saturday, September 19th, 2026, from 9 am to 12 pm. Cleanup sites are hosted throughout the state.
